Special edition of the Salon International de la Femme Noire in the digital age!

Montreal, May 11, 2020Audace au Féminin is very proud to announce the third edition of the Salon International de la Femme Noire (SIFN). This special online edition will take place on May 29, 30 and 31, 2020 via the Audace au Féminin – Salon International de la Femme Noire’s official Facebook page. Discussions and workshops centred on Excellence, Collaboration, Innovation and Solutions, will be the focus of this not to be missed event for Black communities in Canada.

Given the success of previous editions and its slogan « Don’t be scared, Dare! » The Salon International de la Femme Noire did not hesitate to make the digital pivot and go above and beyond its limits of commitment to instilling a dose of self-esteem and empowerment in all women facing this unique situation. With her commitment to the development of female entrepreneurship without borders, entrepreneur and philanthropist Vickie Joseph was a natural choice in supporting the SIFN and is this year’s honorary president of the third edition.

Quebecer and Canadian households are currently living many challenges and changes daily. From a more global perspective, this edition will look at  « The Impact Of The Coronavirus On Black Communities » one of the major topics that will be discussed during a panel with among others, deputies Dominique Anglade and Greg Fergus who is also a member of the Federal Government Special Advisory Committee against the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, measures taken against the pandemic in regards to Black communities have led to inequalities in places such as Montreal-North, St-Michel and Rivière-des-Prairies. Why are they more affected? Do we need community-specific data to provide accurately targeted programs? Violence against women and children, a taboo subject in our communities, will be discussed during the « Suffering Behind Closed Doors » panel. Young people from high school and university will also be given the floor to find out how they are coping with this crisis.

The economic inequality of Black women is a constant reality that must be improved. Tools and resources will be presented during several discussions and workshops so that they can be independent and financially empowered at all stages of their business lives and their lives as women.

To kick off this exceptional program and start the day off on the right track, teachers including Fitness Coach  Nadège St-Philippe, of the TVA group, will get participants up and moving with « Get up on the right foot » beginning at 9:00 am. Conscious that their well-being has been put to the test, professionals (Life Coach, Nurse, Psychologist, Sex Coach, etc.) will also provide them with guidance and solutions to restore their body and mind.

During these three days, exceptional women and men will bring their expertise and their testimonies to meet the needs of women. The Salon International de la Femme Noire also wants to highlight Black women who work behind the scenes and who through their work, their convictions and their perseverance have paved their own way. CBC Radio Journalist Nantali Indongo will have a head to head interview with Adama Ndiaye, otherwise known as  Adama Paris, the most inspiring Senegalese serial entrepreneur in the fashion industry. According to Madame le Figaro magazine, she is one of the 15 most powerful women in Africa.

The SIFN’s 3rd special digital edition will be Real, Inspiring, Instructive and Committed to ensuring it’s future is solid! The Salon International de la Femme Noire is more than an event, it is an inclusive movement.

The Salon International de la Femme Noire will be held on

Friday the 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of May, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. – Facebook Live
